Glen's story

It is never too late to become who you were meant to be.

Glen Evelyn is the creator, writer, producer, director, and star of the LGBTQ+ television series Our Family Pride (OFP), a six-episode scripted drama produced by GunnerMAX Productions LLC. Filmed entirely in South Florida, the series features an accomplished cast including Garrett Clayton (Teen Beach), Ethan Cutkosky (Shameless), Nikki Roumel (Ginny & Georgia), Glen Evelyn, and an ensemble of talented actors from across the United States.

Raised in West Palm Beach, Florida, Glen was the youngest of five boys. From an early age, he knew he was different. While other children played outside, Glen found comfort in drawing, painting, storytelling, and imagining himself on stage or in front of a camera. Yet beneath those dreams lived a quiet struggle. Growing up during the 1970s and 1980s, he wrestled with accepting that he was gay in a world where authenticity often felt impossible.

After graduating from Florida State University with degrees in Communications and Business, Glen followed the path he believed was expected of him. He married his college sweetheart, hoping that commitment to a woman would quiet the feelings he had spent years trying to suppress. Although the marriage eventually ended in divorce, it reflected the difficult reality faced by many LGBTQ+ individuals who believed living authentically was simply not an option.

Acting remained Glen's greatest passion, but fear convinced him that pursuing a creative career would force him to confront parts of himself he wasn't yet prepared to embrace. He set aside his lifelong dream and instead built an extraordinary career in healthcare.

Over the next 35 years, Glen became a nationally respected healthcare executive, consultant, and thought leader. He helped build health plans, developed high-performing sales and consulting organizations, advised C-suite executives from some of America's largest employers, and spoke across the country on leadership, organizational performance, and innovation. By every external measure, he had achieved remarkable professional success.

But success did not erase the desire to live authentically.

Eventually, Glen embraced his identity, came out, and met the man who would become his husband. Together they built what Glen believed was the life he had always hoped for—a loving marriage founded on honesty, acceptance, and the freedom to finally be himself.

That happiness was shattered when his husband developed a severe addiction to drugs. What followed became the most painful chapter of Glen's life. Years of treatment attempts, hope, setbacks, and heartbreak ultimately culminated during the COVID-19 pandemic. Hoping a fresh start might save his husband's life, Glen accepted an executive position in Louisville, Kentucky. Despite every effort, the move could not overcome the grip of addiction, and his husband ultimately passed away.

As if that loss were not enough, Glen soon faced a life-threatening medical crisis of his own. He suffered a catastrophic internal bleed that resulted in seven episodes of cardiac arrest over the course of three days. Against extraordinary odds, he survived.

The emotional and physical aftermath was overwhelming. Following the death of his husband, repeated emergency room visits, months of recovery, and a dramatic 90-pound weight loss, Glen found himself confronting not only his mortality, but also the question of how he wanted to spend whatever time he had left.

At 56 years old, he made the most courageous decision of his life.

He walked away from a successful corporate career to pursue the dream he had buried since childhood—to become a storyteller.

Rather than allowing grief to define him, Glen chose to transform it into purpose. He began writing, producing, directing, and starring in Our Family Pride, a deeply personal television series inspired by his own experiences growing up closeted, coming out later in life, surviving profound personal loss, and loving family members affected by addiction.

Although Glen had been openly gay for many years, he understood that the emotional wounds of living in the closet do not disappear overnight. Our Family Pride explores the complexities of identity, family, acceptance, resilience, addiction, and unconditional love. Through authentic storytelling, Glen hopes the series will resonate not only with LGBTQ+ audiences, but also with parents, spouses, siblings, friends, and anyone seeking a deeper understanding of what it means to live honestly.

Today, Glen believes his greatest accomplishment is not surviving unimaginable loss, but finding the courage to transform that journey into stories that help others feel seen, understood, and less alone.

Through Our Family Pride, Glen Evelyn is fulfilling the dream he carried as a young boy in West Palm Beach—using the power of storytelling to inspire hope, encourage acceptance, and remind people that it is never too late to become the person you were always meant to be.

As Founder and CEO of GunnerMAX Productions, Glen has recently completed his second project, a full-length feature film STARTUP LOVE. He is also finalizing his book Why the F not, and starting his third film project.
